Una investigación de EL PAÍS ha revelado que Farías adquirió siete propiedades de lujo en Madrid en 2010, durante el escándalo de 2.000 millones de dólares del gigante energético.

Además de las propiedades en Madrid, Farías invirtió 30 millones de dólares en un avión privado, un barco y dos viviendas en la República Dominicana. Estos hallazgos provienen de un informe confidencial de la Unidad de Inteligencia Financiera de Andorra, fechado en diciembre de 2022.

Las transacciones para la adquisición de estas propiedades fueron orquestadas a través de la Banca Privada de Andorra (BPA), utilizando cuentas en sociedades instrumentales en Panamá, Barbados y las Islas Vírgenes Británicas. Farías utilizó estas compañías para realizar transferencias a cuentas off shore en la misma entidad bancaria, todas ellas vinculadas a la investigación del expolio de PDVSA.

Con 62 años, Farías adquirió siete viviendas de lujo en Madrid en enero de 2010, utilizando hipotecas, y realizó inversiones en la rehabilitación de estos inmuebles a través de una constructora y una empresa de reformas españolas.

El valor actual del metro cuadrado en el edificio de la calle Claudio Coello 73, donde se encuentran estas propiedades, asciende a 8.551 dólares. Las propiedades, con superficies que oscilan entre 85 y 145 metros cuadrados, se estiman en más de 6,5 millones de dólares en el mercado actual, según Idealista.
