During a panel discussion entitled Crime, Youth And Opportunities at party headquarters in George Street, St Michael, last night, general secretary Guyson Mayers and former president of the Young Democrats, Curtis Cave, criticised Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley’s decision to ask for Dottin’s crime consultancy early last year.

Mayers, former head of the Police Services Commission, questioned why the public had yet to hear from Dottin, while Cave pointed to Barbados recording its highest number of murders under Attorney General Dale Marshall and Dottin.

Last year there were 49 murders, a number that eclipsed the 36 recorded in 2006. Marshall was also Attorney General at that time

“The combination of these three characters is not good at all. I’m in a job where I get paid for performance. You cannot bring back a man who had the previous record on murders as a consultant . . . . You have the same characters,” Cave said. (TG)
