Professor Fritz Pinnock, President of the Caribbean Maritime University (CMU), will not be returning to work on Monday as expected. Professor Pinnock has indicated that in the interest of transparency, he will remain on leave until details of the investigation at the CMU are made public. A statement on Friday from the university confirmed that Professor Pinnock has applied for and has been granted a further extension of his voluntary leave. Professor Pinnock‘s leave of absence was scheduled to end today. He has been on voluntary leave of absence since July to facilitate the probe into corruption allegations involving former Education Minister Ruel Reid, the Education Ministry and the Caribbean Maritime University. Professor Pinnock last month requested a four-week extension of his leave of absence because the investigation was not complete.
